Michele K. Short = Unit Still Photographer for Film and Television.
With an extensive background in film, television and theatre, I'm proud to have worked on many award-winning productions, collaborating closely with some of the most accomplished artists in the industry. Access to these exclusive environments has been essential in my development as a photographer and inspires me to bring a fresh and dynamic perspective to each project.
My approach to Set Photography embodies several concepts: attention to the filmmakers vision, high sensitivity to each actor's unique process, intuitive understanding of the intricate dynamics of a film set, and focus on story; those both in front of, and behind, the lens. Reveling in details as well as scope; comprehensive coverage is also a key priority, with the emphasis on fulfilling the wide variety of uses for production imagery.
Off set, I photographically explore everything from expansive landscapes to the macro details of historic architecture. I love color. I love stories. I'm also an expert on the The Great American Road Trip, having traversed the country stem to stern a multitude of times, keeping mostly to side roads. In every state, I know where you can get the best caesar salad and/or BBQ, which motels have the best swimming pools, where the sky is dark enough to really see the stars and where to find the best rest stops.
I grew up in San Diego, live in Brooklyn, have a chihuahua named Darla and when I'm not on set you will find me out exploring wherever place I might be, most like with a cup of chicory coffee and a Leica M.
